Service Days

Working collaboratively with other Emory groups and agency partners, Volunteer Emory organizes large-scale service events, usually with multiple projects going on at the same time.

Emory Law Service Days - 8/17-18/09

Volunteer Emory partnered with Emory Law School to organize this service event as part of orientation for first year students. Building on the foundation of pro-bono and philanthropic traditions within the legal community, the goal of this event is to draw a direct connection between serving as a lawyer and serving as a volunteer.

Freshman Service Day - 8/29/09

For this event, freshmen will be oriented to the a part of the greater Atlanta community by serving at multiple sites in DeKalb and Fulton counties.

Sophomores Serve - 8/29/09

Volunteer Emory partnered with the Second Year at Emory program to get the sophomore year started off on the right foot with multiple service opportunities throughout the day.

Sports Camp - 9/26/09

For this event, Volunteer Emory recruits 15-20 Emory groups to organize sporty enrichment activities for 100-150 local youth . This event is held on McDonough field on Emory's central campus. Contact Kay Hua for more information about this event.

National Gandhi Day/Hands On Atlanta Day - 10/3/09

In celebration of Gandhi's birthday, Volunteer Emory will join Georgia Tech students in volunteering for this annual event organized by Hands On Atlanta. Contact Surabhi Agrawal for more information about this event.

Emory Cares Day - 11/14/09

Originally established as an alumni service day, this world-wide day of service now includes current Emory students, staff and faculty. Contact Meredith West for more information about this event.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service - 1/18/10

Organized as part of Emory's annual King Week activities, volunteers at this project honor the work of Dr. King by planting trees with Trees Atlanta in his old neighborhood (Atlanta's Old 4th Ward). Contact Nihar Thandani for more information about this event.

Play Day - 4/3/10

Similar to Sports Camp, this event matches student groups with local youth. This event takes place at the Jones Boys & Girls Club in Oakhurst. Contact Jennice Lee for more information about this event.

Staff Fest Service Day
