 | Special Events and Awareness Campaigns
Each year, Volunteer Emory sponsors several special events to reach people in different ways. Whether we hold events on campus or go to off-campus events, we always aim to create fun and accessible ways for you to get involved. In the fall, we typically have Sports Camp, bringing children from around Atlanta and student organizations together in a casual field day and the AIDS Walk. Spring brings work at the Shearith Israel Shelter for women, Play Day at the Jones Boys and Girls Club (with ponies and a sno-cone machine!), and the Get Fit 5K. |

Volunteer Emory complements our service opportunities with awareness campaigns so you can learn more in-depth about the issues we address through volunteering. During the fall, we have sponsored Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week and AIDS Awareness Week. This fall, we are sponsoring Sports Camp, a fall break service trip for hurricane relief, the AIDS Walk, a campus-wide service day called Emory Cares, AIDS Awareness Week and the Quilt on the Quad. Whether it’s watching a movie, interacting with a panel, or attending something like the Hunger Banquet or the AIDS Quilt display, you get to encounter issues in a new and fresh way. |
Resource Center
Our staff members are in our office in the Dobbs University Center room 340E (directions here), between 8:00 and 5:30 every day to help you get the resources you need to do service.
Our database of more than 300 agencies in the metro Atlanta area can put you in touch with volunteer opportunities for you to do on your own. (Visit many of them by going to our links page.) We can also meet with you to help arrange projects for your group or organization (sororities, residence halls, clubs, etc.). Stop by, or if you’d prefer to set up an appointment, email or call.
SHARE House
SHARE (Service House for Action and Reflection at Emory), housed in the Clairmont Campus Tower Apartments, is a theme house for people committed to community activism, justice and service. SHARE residents participate in regular service projects at a variety of agencies around Atlanta, and build community through regular hall dinners, meetings and social events.
SHARE House is open to any upper-class student who is interested in this theme. All residents must commit to weekly or bi-weekly service projects, attend regular hall meetings and social events, and spread the spirit of service on Emory's campus. Candidates must complete an application (available here) and participate in an interview with the selection committee.

Careers for the Common Good
Volunteer Emory and the Career Center partner to present “Careers for the Common Good” six times a year. In these panels, professionals from various non-profit and public service areas discuss their experience and share tips about how to get involved in similar careers. Each session ends with the opportunity to network with the presenters. Click on the calendar icon to the left to see upcoming Careers for the Common Good sessions.
Social Entrepreneurs
Volunteer Emory awards mini-grants each fall to creative students who seek to address pressing needs in the Atlanta community and beyond through our Social Entrepreneurs program. Applications are available in September; contact Melody Porter for more information. Links about the field of social entrepreneurship are available on our links page.
The Om Project was a Social Entrepreneur awardee in 2005 - 2006. Learn more about their work by visiting their website.
